Patriotism and Jingoism = Xenophobia

Written by admin on March 15, 2010 – 5:19 pm -

Patriotism is a noble feeling. A patriotic person loves his country and is every ready to even sacrifice his life for the sake its honor and respect. A true patriotic person is filled with love. Hatred, bias, rancor, prejudice are foreign to him. Such a person always remains busy in his efforts to bring happiness, peace and harmony. Therefore, a true patriotic person never hates other countries or states. He loves people no matter where they are and what country they belong to. Love for his country is not a source of his bias or prejudice towards other countries, rather his love expands and he promotes peace and harmony among the nations. Our love for our parents and siblings does not confine or limit to them. We like our friends, neighbors, colleagues, acquaintances and even strangers we come into contact daily. Same is the case with the patriotic person who do love his country more but never hates the others.

However, a patriotic person is supposed to guard himself against Jingoism. Patriotism instills the feelings of love in hearts. On the contrary, jingoism leads to xenophobia—excessive hatred for foreigners. So, Jingoism is destructive, divisive, depleting and corrosive. It separates the nation and sows the seeds of dissension, hatred and prejudice. It must be rooted out in the best interest of unity and brotherhood among the nations.

It goes without saying that love and humanity know no boundaries. They cannot be confined to certain countries. Human love is universal. The frontiers can prevent love to spread and reach all parts of the world. It cannot be chained by the invisible chains or fetters of hate, prejudice, bias and racial differences.

Therefore, a true patriotic person never severs the relations, rather he binds the nation and gels them together with his love, unity, brotherhood and his desire for peace to prevail. A patriotic person knows the importance of unity among nations very well. He believes that no nation can live on its own. All the nations of the world are supposed to be united and promote peace and harmony to make this world a happy Eden where people belonging to different race, caste, culture and religion live together happily. And, it can only happen when the entire world rise together against evil forces, which are hell-bent to create dissension among the nation, resulting chaos, mess and destruction in the long run.

So, patriotism is indeed a great blessing. It furthers and promotes love and harmony in the world, helping people one another to live together with unity and brotherhood.

The Fear Of Strangers, Xenophobia

Written by admin on February 27, 2010 – 6:06 pm -

The fear of strangers or foreign people is often known officially as Xenophobia. It can not only be a fear of people they have not met, but of foreigners to their country and people with different beliefs. Xeno means stranger and phobia means to have a fear.

The fear of foreigners and people different to ones self can be regarding anybody from a different culture to your own, people with different personalities, higher levels of confidence or just somebody who believes in different things to yourself. People speaking in a foreign language can also cause alarm for those suffering with this phobia or fear and will always give a cause for alarm.

Xenophobia is something not decided on, but more like a natural instinct to the person holding the fear. Suffering feeling these emotions strongly feel genuinely that people different to themselves in any shape or form could be something to be wary of, so they usually either confront or back well away from the potential danger.

There are many Xenophobics who suffer in such an extreme way that it causes them to become nasty and violent towards others. They can last out and say rude and racist remarks. The majority of sufferers, however will stay calm and deal with it away from others in a safe place.

Throughout history and even today, tribes across the world follow some kind of Xenophobia and will fight any tribes different to themselves. This just shows how many different levels it comes it and how widespread it can be.

Hitler was the most extreme active Xenophobic in his day and due to his extreme feelings, had millions of Jews gassed and killed. This was all because they were different to him so he had his soldiers do the dirty deed of destroying those that he took a strong dislike to.

How You Can Overcome Your Fear of Crowds

Written by admin on February 24, 2010 – 4:49 pm -

A fear of crowds can be awkward to deal with.

Whilst you can be sure that certain places will almost always attract a crowd (big sports matches, crowded commuter routes, that kind of thing), there are other times when a crowd can appear as if from nowhere. It’s at times like that where your fear of crowds can really come into its own and disrupt your way of life.

The problem is that our brain learns pretty fast when it wants to. Especially when irrational fears are concerned. And despite what you may think, a fear of crowds isn’t the most rational thing to possess. Most crowds are harmless most of the time.

But try telling that to your brain!

Chances are the flight part of your inbuilt “fight or flight” response mechanism has reared its ugly head before you get a chance to reason with it.

So just exactly how do you go about overcoming your fear of crowds?

If your fear is a mild one, it could be that you simply need to mix with small crowds and gradually adjust by gradually mixing with larger and larger crowds. Sometimes taking an understanding friend along with you can be idea – they’re with you as a comfort and can help you if your fear suddenly starts to become overwhelming.

But what do you need to do if your fear is bigger than that?

If your fear is holding you back, you have three options:

* Run away from it – move to somewhere rural and isolated for instance.

* Live with it and avoid crowds as much as possible whilst still having a life.

* Face your fear and deal with it.

When it comes down to it, fear is actually pretty cowardly. So the third option (facing your fear of crowds) isn’t actually as scary as it may seem.

Think back to the last time you got trapped in a crowd. Sure, it may not have been a pleasant experience for you. But after all the worry and cold sweats, think back. Did you come out of the event unscathed?

Assuming you did come out of your last crowd experience without harm, that’s a good start. You can work with that positive memory to start to train your mind to react differently next time you’re seemingly trapped in a crowd. Focus on your breathing – take long, deep breaths in and out.

Stay as calm as possible (this gets easier over time – make sure you’ve got help at hand the first few times you try it).

Gradually, you’ll start to reprogram your mind.

If you can, think back to a time when you were happy in a crowd. Maybe a childhood birthday party or maybe a time when you managed to get to the cinema and watch a great movie. If you can find this kind of time, re-live it. In your mind’s eye make the memory bigger, brighter, louder. This will help you to associate positive memories with crowds and will help you overcome your fear of crowds faster.

Get more ways to overcome your fear of crowds and start to cure your crowd phobia.

The Journey to Living Abundantly – The Fear of Living in Abundance

Written by admin on February 24, 2010 – 12:59 pm -

Abundance is a journey of joy and purpose. So, why would anyone have a fear of abundance? Here, we will identify four groups of people who fear abundance.
First, some people believe that abundance and wealth would only lead to corruption and destruction of the human spirit. As we explore this error in judgment, we will provide some clarification on this misconception.
The truth is, not one person who is corrupted or on the path of destruction is living abundantly, not one. Abundance is not just about material wealth; however, it does not exclude material wealth.
Abundance is about living in optimal health, vibrancy, and purpose with resources, empowering relationships, and a strong sense of our true self. Material wealth and material riches are a manifestation of mental and spiritual wealth that lies within the individual. As a result of this spiritual and mental wealth, one can only help but to manifest material wealth and that material wealth become material riches.
Accordingly, we should not concern ourselves with the fear that material wealth will corrupt us. Material wealth, including money, will only make you more of what you already are. If you have good character and compassion for others, with material wealth, you will have more good character and more compassion for others. If you are a scoundrel and a cheat, with material wealth, you will be an even bigger scoundrel and a cheat. Therefore, if you are kind, giving, loving, and creative, with your wealth you will be even more kind, giving, loving, and creative while enjoying a life of abundance. If you are insecure, selfish, hoarding, and deceitful, with your wealth, you will be even more insecure, selfish, hoarding, and deceitful while living a life of discontent, sadness, and self-destruction.
Second, there is yet another group of people who fear abundance. Some individuals fear abundance because they believe that abundance will require hours and hours of hard work. The Universal Law of Economy of Force or the Principle of Least Resistance contends that this is just not true. Too many people are spending 16 hour days working, hoping, and praying that soon all their money troubles will be over and they can retire in the Bahamas at 65 years old.
Unfortunately, this is not happening. Recent studies show, that many people have been forced to come out of retirement.
There is a reality check we should cash long before we cash our pay check and this reality check is…We are not supposed to work hard. What? That is right. We are supposed to work creatively. That’s what the human Spirit desires. Hard work causes mental and spiritual fatigue and therefore makes mental and spiritual wealth impossible. If we have no mental and spiritual wealth, then we have nothing to show for all our hard work. This fatigue is also the result of our own resistance. Because of this resistance, we interrupt the flow of abundance in our lives and prevent us from being able to create. The truth is we create in our thought world. When we are fatigue, our thought process does not work properly.
In our thought world, during times of stillness and quiet, the Universe whispers plans, inventions, and ideas. These witty plans, inventions, and ideas are a part of the creative energies of the Universe waiting for our higher consciousness to receive it. This is the abundance within us at work.
By stilling the mind in meditation, we discover this knowledge and wisdom as a result of our allowing creative energy to flow. When we act on it, we create wealth. We create freedom. For each of these plans, inventions, ideas serve a purpose and that purpose in to help humanity in some impacting way. Therefore, it is already a demand for your idea. There are millions of people wanting it. All you need is the faith and courage to execute.
As this creative energy continues to flow, your execution will seem effortless. It will seem effortless when you take the time to meditate and determine how each step should be carried out. Before long, you have tapped into the field of infinite possibilities where everything that is possible is possible. You will have opened the flood gates to wealth and success and you will have embarked on the journey to living abundantly.
The third group of individuals who fear abundance are often classified as those who fear success. Amazingly, there are more who are in this group than any other group of people who fear abundance. Those who fear success are have had personal experiences where they have felt responsible for everyone else. This often happens in a family or group dynamic. The individual feels that if he or she succeeds, he or she will have to carry the entire family or group with him. Because this burden is overwhelming, the individual fears success and settles for mediocrity. While this group which fears abundance would be classified as a fear of success, there is a fourth group of those who fear abundance.
The fourth group that fears abundance would be classified as those who fear failure. Again, the Principle of Expectations contends that energy follows thoughts. Therefore, keep thinking it and it will happen…whatever it is. Here is a novel thought. Practice the Universal Law of No Attachments. In this law, you go through the process doing all you can while the Universe handle the details.
All you do is what you know how to do. You stay in meditation. Asking the Universe to show you what you should do next. After you have done it. You step back and let the Universe handle the rest. If the Universe says write a book. The Universe will present you with opportunities to learn what you need to learn to write a book. Then, write the book. You don not worry about how many copies will sell. You don not worry if the audience will like it or not.
Simply do what you know how to do. Meditate. Allow the flow. Expect the best. Gain wisdom in what you are doing. Take each step expecting the best and the best will come. That is abundance in action.
