How to get rid my fears of elevators and other small locked spaces?

Written by admin on April 13, 2010 – 12:36 pm -

I always take the stairs if there is an option. I always afraid that when take the elevator, the chances of the cable snapping are big. Then me and everyone in the elevator are going to plunge to out deaths…
Then I just realized recently, if I’m in a small locked room, my heart beats faster than normal even though I am relaxed.

Well you should just go in the lift all the time & then get used to it, or call a friend to tell them to call the lift operater & tell them to make sure it doesn’t snap.

You should take the elevator 1 flight and take the stairs the rest of the way. Do this till it becomes habit then do 2 flights in elevator…etc.

The best way to cure a phobia is to introduce the fear gradually. This fear comes from your childhood and it can easily be diminished.

I also used to be claustrophobic, but I met this girl who liked to have sex in elevators, closets, restaurant bathrooms, etc. It seemed to clear up my problem with confined spaces, until she left me. Damn I miss that girl.

ooh, maybe I should meet a girl who likes to have sex on airplanes to get over my fear of flying. Any volunteers?

Try this for example, tomorrow read about the cables of the elevator, take notes on how the cables are built and how they are meticulously built for elevators. The next day read about the safety measures manufactures do for their elevators. Now that you know how safe elevators are, go to a two story building and try to go on it. If you still can’t do it, try closing your eyes when you go in and count to 5 backwards and think of how your day was the day before. Take little steps to get the fear gone.
